Anna Kamińska

Anna Kamińska – writer from Poland. Author of the following biographies: “Simona: The Story of Simona Kossak’s Extraordinary Life” – the story of a woman who devoted her life to nature in Białowieża Forest; and “Wanda. A Tale of Life and Death: The Story of Wanda Rutkiewicz” – the story of the first woman to ascend K2 and “Halina. There are No Women Like Her Today” – the story of Halina Krüger-Syrokomska”, himalaist and the first woman to reach the 8000 summit in Europe in women team. Each book became a bestseller in Poland.  

Anna Kamińska wrote also “Bialowieza in a Whisper. The stories from the Białowieża Forest” – the tale of inhabitants of a village in the oldest woods in Europe and “The Re-found. True Stories of the Adopted” – a collection of psychological stories about dramatic lives of people who were adopted as children.

  • Wiesław Kazanecki Literary Award of the Mayor of Białystok, 2018 (“Bialowieza in a Whisper. The Stories from the Białowieża Forest”).  
  • nomination Wiesław Kazanecki Literary Award of the Mayor of Białystok, 2016 (“Simona: The Story of Simona Kossak’s Extraordinary Life”).  
  • Zakopane Literary Award 2020 (“Halina. There are No Women Like Her Today”).  
  • Sport Book of the Year in the categories of “Mountain Books 2020” and “Grand Prix” in Literary Award in Andrzej Zawada Mountain Festival XXIV in Lądek Zdrój, Poland.  

Anna Kamińska graduated from Warsaw University in 2004; has a first grade musical diploma (cello), writes about heroes and heroines of our times who changed the world for good.
