Kateryna Michalicyna

Kateryna Mikhalitsyna (1982) is a Ukrainian writer, translator, literary editor, a member of PEN Ukraine and a volunteer. Award winning author of more than 20 books for children and several collections of poetry. Kateryna’s poems were translated into Polish, Armenian, Swedish, German, English, Lithuanian and other languages. Among the writers she’d translated there are J. R. R. Tolkien, Oscar Wilde, Ernest Hemingway, Henry Marsh, Judith Kerr and others. Her picture book “Who Grows in the Park ” illustrated by Oksana Bula has been listed in The White Raven Catalogue-2016, and the “Who Grows” series has been published in more than 12 countries already. A non-fiction book “Reactors Do not Explode. A Brief History of Chornobyl Disaster” written together with Stanislav Dvornytsky has been listed in The White Raven Catalogue-2021. Kateryna’s interests as an artist and a writer lay in the spheres of ecology, women’s and children’s rights, in exploring matters of human dignity and family history.

Kateryna lives in Lviv with her husband, their three children and two rescued dogs.
